We recommend using the available lossless formats (AIFF, FLAC, and WAV) for the seemless looping of audio files.
Gapless cycle playback may also be possible with the lossy formats; however, it may require additional efforts to make it work. For instance, we do add file length and playback position information to the VBR headers of our MP3 files and also embed ancillary data for time and delay compensation. However, not every player will be able to process this information correctly, and a customized IT solution may be required.
